So lately I've been mega broke and seriously wedge deprived. I have also been frustrated that all of the shoes that I yearn for on Solestruck or elsewhere are sold out by the time I get my paycheck because I have to be a responsible adult and pay for things I dont want to like rent, cable, and food. Not this time, people! All of the above still applies, but I decided to be irresponsible and delve into my savings for these puppies. The Jeffrey Campbell "Tardy" wedge looks a hell of a lot like those amazing Chloe boots from forever ago and you're darn tootin' thats why I bought them! Plus, some sweet red shoes needed to be added to my collection. Cant fuckin wait till I can strut around in these!

Explosions in the Sky with Papercuts @ Hollywood Forever Cemetery 4/30/2011

Ho-ly-crap, what a beautiful show! Everything about it! Everyone snuggling on blankets with beers and snacks on a lovely night listening to some of the greatest post-rock ever made! Seriously, It was amazing. I admittedly missed most of Papercuts, but the little that I heard was quite lovely and appropriate for the mood and venue. Honestly, I was kind of hoping to literally be among the graves, but we were fairly close to some small mausoleums so I guess that was alright. I honestly think my only complaint about last night is that everyone in the I.E. and O.C. had been bitching via Facebook and Twitter about how this wind is a bitch and I was just hanging around Arcadia thinking "what a bunch of whiners, the weather is fine!" Then, 9 o'clock rolls around and clearly no one else in L.A. was prepared for the upcoming wind either. Everyone was cold a squirming around probably thinking the same thing I was: I wish we had brought TWO blankets! But I mean, even my least favorite type of weather really couldnt ruin such a magical night. I even told my boyfriend, "Hey this would be a great date if there werent craploads of people surrounding us!" And its hard to have a bad time when you can take in your own booze and food. If I could take in a cheese plate and a margarita to every show, I'd be a real happy camper. But basically, Explosions in the Sky was amazing and energetic and couldnt have done any better! Bravo!

Crystal Castles with Suuns, 3/3/2011 @ The Fox Theater

Ok so Suuns sounded like a shitty high school jam band, nuff said. But I had such high hopes for Crystal Castles considering this second album is fucking amazing and beautiful and sounds real good rollin' around in my Jeep to work. I was more than disappointed; I was angry. So not even saying anything bad about their singer, Alice, because that bitch had a broken ankle and was still energetic as ever! Crowd surfing, writhing around, even taking a toke off of someone's joint! She was really giving 100% and this terrible show had nothing to do with her. My advice to the band is FIRE YOUR SOUND PERSON! The bass was literally choking me and it made it impossible to hear the goddamn songs! I was so pissed about it that I almost wanted to walk out, but I stuck it out just incase the sound dick pulled it together. It got a little better, but It was still, overall, pretty fuckin terrible. I was even thinking, "Okay, if Robert Smith comes out just for Not In Love, it will redeem this whole shit show." But that didnt happen either. I did like how they realized that their original version of that song was not as awsome as the R.S. version, so they decided to go with that. Bravo, I say! But here are some other tid bits I was upset/downright confused about with the show; never played "Untrust Us" or "Vanished" because I was kind of under the impression that those were kind of big songs for them. Also it was only an hour long, which i guess i get because she does have a friggin' broken ankle. If I had a broken ankle, i'd be like "hey guys, Im gonna sit in this chair and sing and heres a greatlight show. Enjoy." Okay, okay, there was one song that to me all of the fuckin songs should have sounded like and that was "Intimate." "Reckless" wasnt too bad either. So the overall feel of the show, in my opinion, was that the sound was so terrible that it made me feel like a) I was listening to it from the outside or b) I was driving next to a cholo with a bad sound system. Too much bass, just plum sounded shitty!

My 2 new purchases.

Im pretty obsessed with skirts right now. Skirts and wedges. The first skirt is the Staring at Stars Constellation Linen skirt and the second one is the Nom De Plume YaYa Drew skirt and they can both be found at Urban Outfitters. The weird thing about the 2nd skirt is that in the store its $88, but its def on sale for $29 which i was pysched about and a friend that works there found the LAST ONE for me! But online its only $39 regular price. Wtf?
